Adithyan S R, Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

ABSTRACT

This paper explores the significant impact of Supreme Court decisions on social Justice in India, highlighting the court’s evolving role as a guardian of constitutional rights and a catalyst for legislative reform. Through landmark rulings such as Vishaka v. State of Rajasthan and Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India, the supreme court has addressed systemic inequalities affecting marginalized groups, including women, scheduled castes, and scheduled Tribes. The Judiciary’s proactive approach, especially through Public interest litigations (PILs), illustrates its responsiveness to societal needs and its commitment to advancing human rights. Despites these achievements, challenges persist in addressing entrenched discrimination and ensuring equitable access to Justice. This analysis emphasizes the informative influence of the supreme court in reshaping public discourse on social justice and underscores the need for on going vigilance in the pursuit of equality and inclusivity in Indian Society.
