ABSTRACT
This paper looks into how the Maternity Benefit Act protects pregnant women at work and explores the idea of giving women time off during their periods, known as menstrual leave. The Maternity Benefit Act helps pregnant women by making sure they get support at work during and after pregnancy. However, there's a new discussion about menstrual leave, which aims to recognize and address the challenges women face during their periods.
The goal of this study is to check if the Maternity Benefit Act is doing enough to support pregnant women and to see if menstrual leave should be added to the rules. We will look at the laws, culture, and what other countries are doing. We'll also hear from employers, employees, and people who make the rules to understand the good and bad sides of adding menstrual leave to the existing maternity benefits.
By looking at the history, culture, and global trends, this research wants to suggest changes to the rules that better support women at work. The goal is to make sure that workplaces understand and meet the needs of women during pregnancy and menstruation. This paper aims to help create fair rules that support women throughout their journey at work, from pregnancy to periods.
