ABSTRACT
International treaties and conventions can be interpreted in different ways depending on the perspective of a party. Needless to say, interpretation is highly subjective. Conventions are an informal summit between two countries that discuss particular matters. It is one step lesser than a treaty. Treaties are signed at the end of a summit as a document of agreement between two states. Treaties are symbols of negotiation. To sign a treaty in the modern world is a great achievement. This is mainly because Geo- politics is all about negotiation and it is a tough job.
Interpreting treaties and the resolutions passed in a convention is a very tricky job as it totally depends on which side the analyser or the reader is aligning to. A lot of times, the developed nations try to arm-twist the underdeveloped or developing nations to agree to their demands. This research paper tries to analyse a treaty each from different era- one from the ancient era, one from the medieval era and one from the modern era in a very unbiased manner.
