ABSTRACT


The Women's Reservation Act, 2023 in the areas of criminal law and gender equality within the Indian context has a transformational effects. The Women's Reservation Act is a significant piece of legislation that tries to remedy previous gender representation gaps in politics. It’s broad effects beyond its immediate political impacts, paying particular attention to its effects on the criminal justice system and gender equality. It starts by the development of women's involvement in Indian politics across time, giving the Women's Reservation Act's necessity and considering some previous context. To determine the impact of the Act, the research Paper uses a thorough analytical framework that incorporates legal analysis, sociological viewpoints. Examining how the Act has affected criminal law is a crucial aspect of the research paper. It is predicted that the presence of women in political decision-making positions will have an impact on the creation oflegislative goals and policies, particularly in the area of criminal justice. In order to address issuesincluding violence against women, sexual harassment, and discrimination in the criminal justice system, The evaluation of the Act could be helpful in the creation of gender-sensitive legislation. It also determines the Act's contribution to non-political gender equality promotion. It analyzes whether more gender equality in social norms and legal frameworks is associated with higher female presence in the political system. It describes the significant, difficulties and opportunities generated by the Act's implementation, as well as information on upcoming opportunities for improvement.
