ABSTRACT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought about a paradigm shift in the Criminal Justice System (CJS) of India, altering the course of judicial proceedings and the administration of justice. This research paper explain about the complex effects of AI on different CJS dimensions, explaining how these effects affect the system's overall dynamics, efficiency, and fairness. The improvement of investigation procedures is a noteworthy facet of AI integration in the CJS. Criminal investigations can be accelerated by using advanced algorithms to sort through massive volumes of data and find patterns and connections. AI-powered predictive police models optimize resource allocation, concentrate efforts where they are most needed, and help prevent crimes before they happen. Additionally, the court system has been expedited by the use of AI to case administration and legal research. AI-powered technologies help lawyers make better decisions by helping them analyze statutes, case law, and precedents. This quickens the trials' pace while simultaneously enhancing the coherence and uniformity of the court's decisions. But there are certain difficulties with integrating AI into the CJS of India. A fair and reasonable system must be ensured by finding a balance between individual rights protection and technology progress.

In conclusion, AI has a significant and wide-ranging influence on India's criminal justice system in the modern day. While developments promise more efficacy and efficiency, caution is necessary to minimize any ethical or legal issues and make sure that the use of AI complies with the values of justice and equity.
