Hithaishi Murthy, PES University

ANAL YSIS

Metaverse is a digital space that provides a platform for its users to communicate and move virtually in their three-dimensional avatars. ‘The term ‘Metaverse’ was coined by Neal Stephenson in his sci-fi novel Snow Crash’.1 Metaverse is believed to be the next step of evolution in terms of technology. It creates a virtual world in which people can play, buy, sell, attend concerts and do much more with the help of the Virtual Reality headsets.

THE FUNDAMENTALS

The metaverse is being advertised as the future space in which interactions between the users ‘feels real’ though it's the digital representation or 3D Avatars which are present in the said event. The 3D avatar is said to make eye contact with the crowd i.e can be a family gathering, office meeting, a concert and the like. ‘The promise of metaverse is to allow a greater overlap of our digital and physical lives in wealth, socialization, productivity, shopping and entertainment’2.
