ABSTRACT
Regrettably life has become very insecure in India as India has self-attracted several million eyes towards its dreadful outbreak of Hepatitis-B Epidemic on 18th February 2009. It had been later the latest issue covered under all leading electronic Medias and print Medias on improper management of bio medical wastes in North Gujarat, India!
This is not actually the end, but just a beginning of the issues that runs endlessly in our country and many such issues go unnoticed and unreported in spite of specific National legislations and International Conventions to protect health and environment from hazards of bio medical wastes.
In the present Article a main issue has been attempted to highlight namely; Sharp Wastes and its hazardous effects on health and environment due to improper bio medical waste management from past 25 years since Bio-Medical waste (Management and Handling) Rules 1998 came into existence. Therefore, the three important questions in the present context is:
Whether in India “life”, “health”, and “environment” is only in the dictionaries or it has a meaning and value in anyway?
How many dreadful instances and incidences are to be numbered for effective control and strict implementation of laws?
Why the fastest developing country like India has lacked the pace in protecting environmental crucial issues such as bio medical waste management?
Keywords: Bio Medical Waste, Sharp Waste, needle stick injury, legislations and smart solutions.
