Within the legal environment, this research article investigates the issue of government promises and estoppel. The study focuses on the IRAC (Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion) technique for methodically examining how government pledges are regarded in various jurisdictions, estoppel principles, and the relationship between the two. The study offers a detailed examination of key cases and academic publications in order to provide a clear knowledge of the legal ramifications of government pledges and the concepts of estoppel.
Introduction
The subject of government pledges and their enforcement has long been a source of legal contention. When making key decisions, investments, and commitments in society, people and corporations frequently rely heavily on the guarantees provided by the government. However, if the government fails to keep its promises, the repercussions can be severe, causing major injury or detriment to individuals who placed their confidence in such guarantees. The necessity to resolve these concerns has led legal scholars and practitioners to investigate the use of the IRAC (Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion) framework to acquire a better understanding of the notion of estoppel and its application to government commitments.
