Geographical Indication: An Indian Outlook

ABSTRACT


Under the Intellectual Property law, Geographical Indication is the defender of regional commodities that are the cornerstone of the cultural heritage of a community. The paper focuses on giving an introduction to the concept of Geographical Indication. It includes the historical based on which the Indian GI Act was enacted. The paper also provides the procedures to be followed to apply for Geographical Indication. The paper aims to provide a concise and comprehensive background to Geographical Indication.
