Gender Equality: A Concern?

Geetika Dev, B.A. LL.B, Christ Academy Institute of Law

ABSTRACT

Gender equality has long been considered a concern for women. However, in recent years, there has been a growing recognition that gender equality is a concern for men as well. This abstract explores the question of whether gender equality is a concern for men, and the ways in which men can contribute to achieving gender equality. The abstract begins by discussing the concept of gender equality and the reasons why it is important. It then explores the ways in which gender inequality affects both men and women, including how it limits opportunities for women and perpetuates harmful gender stereotypes that can negatively impact men's mental health and well- being. The abstract then goes on to highlight the ways in which men can contribute to achieving gender equality, such as by challenging traditional gender roles and supporting women's voices and leadership. It also discusses the benefits that men can derive from gender equality, such as increased job satisfaction and better relationships with women. Overall, it argues that gender equality is indeed a concern for men, and that men have an important role to play in achieving it. It concludes by emphasizing the importance of engaging men in discussions around gender equality and creating spaces where men can explore and address their own biases and behaviours.
