ABSTRACT
The pervasiveness of sexual violence in India constitutes a deeply entrenched societal issue, necessitating urgent and comprehensive research efforts. This study, titled ‘From Silence to Resilience: Navigating the Landscape of Sexual Violence in India,’ delves into the multifaceted dimensions of sexual violence in the Indian context. It highlights the pervasive culture of silence surrounding this issue, driven by factors such as stigma, fear, and societal norms. The misinterpretation of consent further complicates efforts to combat sexual violence. Legal complexities, coupled with the intersection of caste, class, religion, and gender identity, further challenge effective intervention strategies.
Through a thorough examination of existing literature, legal frameworks, and survivor narratives, this research aims to shed light on the underlying factors contributing to the perpetuation of sexual violence. Understanding these complexities is pivotal for formulating targeted policies, legal reforms, and support systems that empower survivors and foster a safer society for all. By amplifying the voices of survivors and advocating for a paradigm shift from silence to resilience, this research endeavours to contribute to a society that addresses the root causes of sexual violence and supports survivors on their journey towards healing and empowerment.’
