ABSTRACT

The world today has witnessed dynamics in many aspects, like education, technology, information, fashion, etc. Even cultures and traditions have changed accordingly. But, still we are able to find lacunae when it comes to the question “whether women have freedom of movement and personal liberty without any restrictions, especially during the late night?” Though, freedom of movement and personal liberty are ensured as the fundamental right of each and every person of our country, the freedom to completely enjoy these rights by a woman is sometimes constrained. The reasons that bar women from enjoying their freedom at dusk, especially at late night is found everywhere and many researches have also been carried out respectively.

For a change, in this paper, one can find the assessment of the extent of freedom of women to move and personal liberty at dusk on the basis of – age group and marital status, along with the causative factors which affect the same. These assessments are purely based on the observation carried out with the help of survey methodology. The relevant legal provisions and case laws are also discussed in detail in this paper.

Keywords: women, dusk (late night), freedom of movement, personal liberty, survey methodology.
