Forced Child Labour In Maharashtra: A Constitutional Analysis

ABSTRACT


Children around the world are engaged in many activities classified as work. This paper focuses on various concepts and studies related to child labour, their socio-economic issues. Various reasons of child labor like curse of poverty, lack of educational resources, social and economic backwardness, addiction, illness or disability, insufficient family income, large family, poverty, illiteracy etc.


Consequences of child labor like common child injuries and abuses like cuts, burns and breaks, fractures, fatigue and dizziness, extreme fear and nightmares, drugs and alcohol, physical abuse, emotional neglect etc. Policy initiatives taken by the Government of India, various programs, NGOs and major national legislations regarding child labor and for protection of child rights and eradication of child labor in India had great impact. For many decades, India’s legislation has attempted to control and regulate labour. The main concern of the law was to regulate the hours of work of children, setting a minimum age limit for children to work. To ensure the life and health of child labor and to prohibit the employment of children in hazardous occupations.
