ABSTRACT
The #metoo movement has generated heated war of words amongst Indian feminists. The movement has now become a feminist civil war, which initially began to combat with the sexual predators. Even though the #metoo movement prompted to share their tales of sexual harassment out in open, the campaign’s influence in India was limited since it did not include the perspectives of the historically marginalised groups. This paper highlights the divides in the feminist community, the intergenerational divide as well as the tiff between the dalit feminists and the savarna feminists. It further discusses ways by which the testimonies of the dalit feminists were erasure from the movement. It contends that dalit women's tales of sexual violence, which have been disregarded, are relevant and important for developing both the feminist and dalit movements. Finally, this paper considers the necessity for intersectional ways to combat sexual and gender-based violence in academia.
