ABSTRACT
The issue of fake news is not one that has just come to light. It has existed for aeons. But in the 21st century, this issue has grown significantly and spread quickly, owing to a recent internet creation called social media. These social media platforms are becoming the source of fake news and incorrect information since individuals there, submit and disseminate material that is inaccurate, illegal, unchecked, uncontrolled, or may sometimes, communal. People truly don’t have the time in the present world to read newspapers or watch TV news, therefore, they spend more time on these social media sites in order to acquire quick information. People in this day and age, also don’t have the time to independently verify every piece of information, so they rely on the same. Social media users are frequently anonymous, unverified sources who may use the site to propagate misinformation about any individual, social group, or community. The citizens are subsequently deceived into believing this false information, which is a violation of their basic fundamental right to information/ right to know.
