Experimentation On Animals: The Grave Torture Ignored By Humans

Simran Sharma, Manipal University Jaipur

ABSTRACT

Abuse against animals is as common as crimes against humans. But the disappointing thing is, animals do not receive the justice they deserve.

Despite executing some laws for the protection of animals, the crimes still outgrow. Just like crimes against human tends to turn heinous, the same thing applies to animals. The crimes are similar in nature in both worlds, but their result is opposite.

Animals are considered materialistic things to humans. They are used for experiments and testing for pharmaceutical drugs, beauty, and skin care products and for many more commercial products consumed by humans. This concept of testing on animals is performed without considering what they must be going through.

The Indian government has constituted laws for this i.e., The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA), 1960 and the Breeding of and Experimentation on Animals (Control and Supervision) Rules, 1998. Despite of these laws, the situation of animals have not improved.

We need laws which will indisputably protect the animals of our country, which will provide the justice they deserve, and will at the same time create a fear among all those people who thinks it’s okay to use and torture animals for their benefit and entertainment.
