ABSTRACT

The customer happiness should be the primary goal of the government and industry and they should carry out consumer protection as a socio-economic activity. Even before India attained its independence, the country's leaders were charged with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of its citizens.

Several laws were enacted by the rulers and then the governments to protect the consumer from being exploited. Consumer protection law has evolved multiple times in India before a renowned piece of law that confers a wide range of advantages and legal protections on customers as a means of shielding them from unjust business practises, deceptive or misleading advertising, and other types of misconduct was enacted in the year 2019.
