ABSTRACT
Facial recognition technology (FRT) is increasingly being integrated into various sectors, including law enforcement, banking, healthcare, and transportation. While it provides benefits such as enhanced security and convenience, it also raises serious ethical concerns. These include threats to privacy, potential misuse by authorities and corporations, lack of transparency, and algorithmic bias, particularly against women and marginalized communities. The lack of comprehensive legal and regulatory frameworks, especially in countries like India, heightens the risk of abuse. This paper examines these ethical concerns and underscores the need for clear legal standards, transparency, informed consent, and accountability to ensure the responsible and equitable use of FRT.
