Enhancing Consumer Welfare Through Competition Law: A Comprehensive Analysis

Gonu Shanthi Shreya, NALSAR University of Law

ABSTRACT

Competition law is fundamental to maintaining market efficiency and protecting consumer interests. This paper examines how competition law impacts consumer welfare, specifically examining its impact on pricing, product quality, innovation, and market entry. It argues that competition law is vital for enhancing consumer welfare by preventing anti-competitive practices that can result in higher prices, diminished product quality, limited choices, and obstacles to market entry. In an era of digital transformation and rapidly evolving markets, the role of competition law in safeguarding consumer interests has become increasingly critical. By regulating market practices and promoting fair competition, competition law helps ensure that consumers benefit from competitive pricing, high-quality products, innovative solutions, and a diverse range of market options.
