ABSTRACT

Women are the backbone of our society and the pillar of every family. Truly women empowerment has been a foremost subject matter in fields of development in India. Recently, prime minister Narendra Modi has emphasised that India is shifting from “women’s development” to women-led development” thus women are now being visioned as the architects of India’s development and growth. However, this vision to encourage women-led development can be realised in true sense only when women are empowered politically, socially and economically. This article tries to highlight various government led initiatives for women contributing to the development of the country and conclude with some suggestions and recommendation for the requirement of community participation in realising the potential of women.
