Emerging Trends: Corporate Veil In The Digital Age

Dhruv Singh, Jindal Global Law School

ABSTRACT:

The principle of the "corporate veil," which separates a company from its shareholders, has been central to corporate law since “Solomon v. Solomon”. However, the digital age and evolving global business structures are challenging this long-held concept. This paper traces the corporate veil's evolution from its foundational roots to today's intricate business landscape. The article aims to spotlight emerging trends, such as the push for greater transparency and the merging of corporate identities, brought about by digital advancements. Drawing from landmark cases, the paper highlights how companies navigate these changes, emphasizing the modern challenges and shifts in corporate governance. Simply put, as the business world grows more intricate, our understanding of the corporate veil must adapt in tandem.
