ABSTRACT
The technology and virtual media has impacted the manner in which it helps to create more multidimensional connections. Feminism has also adopted virtual media as a critical medium for communication and the establishment of global networks. The current digital era necessitates the on-going empowerment of women in the new technological sphere, as it paves the way for essential socio-economic and political empowerment. Digital feminism, an avant-garde phase of feminist activism, is a burgeoning phenomenon in India and around the globe, influenced by a variety of social, cultural, and political factors. The #MeToo movement's dramatic explosion on social media in October 2017 revealed the global prevalence of sexual harassment and violence, thereby significantly disrupting public consciousness. Yet, despite the global attention afforded to #MeToo, it was preceded by numerous initiatives, which created digital footprints instrumental in rendering #MeToo intelligible.. This article explores the multidimensional landscape of workplace harassment in India and the vital role played by Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) committees in mitigating such incidents. The article explores the internal complaint committees' requirements and the importance of their composition, as well as the components of the POSH Act. The author also underlines the legal mandate of the POSH Act, emphasizing the gap between legislation and effective enforcement that contributes to the persistence of sexual harassment instances at workplaces.
