ABSTRACT

This research paper examines effective merger and acquisition (M&A) strategies through case studies of major corporate transactions. M&A plays a crucial role in growth, market expansion, and competitive advantage. By analyzing key deals—Disney-Pixar (2006), Facebook-Instagram (2012), Microsoft-LinkedIn (2016), Amazon-Whole Foods (2017), Idea-Vodafone (2018), and Adani Group-NDTV (2023)—this paper identifies critical success factors.

The study aims to explore strategic rationale, including market expansion, diversification, and synergies, with a focus on pre-merger due diligence, target selection, and post-merger integration. Key factors such as cultural compatibility, operational alignment, leadership, and communication are analyzed for their impact on M&A success. A comparative analysis highlights common success drivers like strategic alignment, innovation, and integration planning, while also addressing challenges such as regulatory hurdles and cultural clashes.

Additionally, this research provides practical insights for businesses considering M&A, offering strategies to mitigate risks and maximize value creation. The findings emphasize the importance of strategic fit, innovation, and effective integration in achieving long-term success

Keywords: Mergers and acquisitions, strategic alignment, post-merger integration, synergy, corporate growth
