ABSTRACT
While e-commerce continues to flourish not only in India but also globally, the traditional retailers continue to suffer from the lack of a level playing field. With huge discounts as well as easy checkout mechanisms on such platforms, e-commerce is the new favourite for majority of the customers. This paper examines the proposed draft released by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs under the existing Consumer Protection(E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. It also provides for a brief impact of these proposals on consumers as well as e-commerce entities. The paper further undertakes a brief study of E-Commerce rules under USA and the EU followed by a conclusion which talks about how the consumers are being affected by the strict regulatory mechanisms that these countries are proposing to implement.
