Domestic Violence Cases In India: A False Cry Of “Wolf!”

Shruti Sinha, BLS LLB, Government Law College, Mumbai

ABSTRACT

It is human nature to consider both the good and the bad, feel them both subconsciously, cause them both inadvertently. However, what sets apart a person of virtue is that they choose to do the good whereas an evil person intentionally does the bad for the furtherance of their selfish whimsicalness and immoral purposes. This is where crimes derive their existence from in society, and as a matter of concern, have continued to grow exponentially, not only in numbers but also in gravity, along the passage of time. Hence, in the face of injustice, when there is no one else to turn to, one knocks on the doors of the Court of Law, to seek a remedy. But what shall be the remedy when the same law starts getting used to perpetuate the very crimes?

Keywords: cruelty, domestic violence, misuse

“If the cry of ‘wolf!’ is made too often as prank assistance, protection may not be available when the actual wolf appears.”

-Hon’ble Supreme Court of India[1]
