Discrepancies Involved In The Appointment Of The Election Commissioner

ABSTRACT


The main purpose of existence of state is to provide a good governance and administration. Every state has adopted for a suitable form of government to according to their needs and socio-economic conditions of their state. Democracy is one such form of government where the rulers are elected by the people. India being the largest democracy in the world, timely elections are held once in five years. This process of election is conducted and regulated by a constitutional body called election commission headed by the election commissioner. Timely elections being one of the main features of democracy where the chief election commissioner takes incharge, there are some discrepancies involved in the appointment of election commissioner. This article tries to analyse the discrepancies involved in the appointment of election commissioner, the effects of such appointment and the various judicial pronouncements regarding the appointment of election commissioner.
