ABSTRACT

The last three decades of technological development, post-liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG) reforms have been overwhelming. Advances in the Internet have undoubtedly made life easier for people around the world. But the emergence of data as a corporate asset in the digital age has also caused some issues for competition authorities in monitoring the functioning of the market. Identifying and understanding the dynamics of competition in digital markets, in comparison of that in normal physical markets and then governing them is a huge and immensely significant task of the competition authority. Decisions regarding the implementation of the existing competition act and amendments to the act are important in resolving the raising complexities and barriers in digital markets.
