Deepfake Regulation And Legal Framework & Its Ethical Dilemmas

Trisha Kalash, Government Law College, Mumbai

ABSTRACT

Deepfakes, or manipulated videos, are created using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. They are created by combining encoder and decoder networks, which fall under the category of Generative adversarial networks. Artificial intelligence and machine learning models are being created to detect changes made by AI with malicious intent. In India, the IT Act and other acts are currently addressing these challenges. People's global endeavours illustrate the huge impact of AI. Countries such as the United States and China are doing their best to address the concerns. If the necessary laws are passed, we will be able to employ AI responsibly. This article discusses the potential use of artificial intelligence to create and distribute fake material. It aims to explore the good and negative effects of AI on everyone.

Keywords: artificial intelligence, deepfakes, manipulated material, malicious intent, IT act, fake content, negative effects
