Deep Insight Into The Cauvery Water Dispute Between Karnataka And Tamil Nadu

ABSTRACT

The Cauvery river is often called as the “Ganga of the south”. The river Cauvery is one of the major source of water for both the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This paper delves the Cauvery water Dispute by tracing its history of the dispute and the legal dimensions of it. This article analyses the historical background of the issue, court rulings and the protests relating to it. In this 21st century where, we develop technologies to research to check for water presence in moon, the concept of sustainable development must be given importance to utilise water in a resourceful way and to save it for the upcoming generations. India is an agrarian society, agriculture is the blood of the country and therefore water management and irrigation are important activities for which water is needed. Due to environmental degradation, population growth and climate change the invaluable resources of earth are under greatest threat and water is also one in the list of resources.
