ABSTRACT

How many times have we seen the word crime on the newspaper in a day? We see news almost every day about women getting assaulted or kids being killed and we ask ourselves, will there ever be an end to these heinous crimes? Can we ever stop them? Before there’s action taken to stop these crimes, we find several new crimes, like cybercrimes, they have grown massively since Covid-19 as people had to stay at home and use the internet and computers more, in India more cases of cybercrimes are being reported. It was easy for criminals to take advantage of people as most of us are new to technology and naive. Collecting data, connecting with children and women and exploiting them, financial frauds are some of the crimes that took place. This paper contains detailed information about all of these crimes and the laws which are needed to punish the criminals, suggestions as to what more needs to be introduced or amended to make these laws applicable to solve our countries current and future cyber-crime problems as well as precautions which can be taken by victims for protecting themselves from cyber-crime.
