Cyber Crime: A Pragmatic Study

ABSTRACT


India is a developing nation and many other things were also developing simultaneously. One of them is the tremendous emergence and use of internet and computers. One can’t even imagine a life without these things. Today, in all the sphere and fields of life, internet playing a very pivotal role whether it is entertainment, education, business, sports, finance etc. Now, as we all know that every coin has two sides, here also the same formula applies. The one side is the positive one where there are numerous opportunities and prospects for the brilliant and successful life but the other side is too perilous and has many unseen dark shades of atrocities and heinous crimes and one of the most dangerous one is the Cyber Crime. Cyber Crime is basically a crime which is committed by using the computer and internet and target the other computer for stealing the valuable and personal information or for other financial gains. Phishing, hacking, cyber bullying, spamming, virus and worms are some of the noteworthy examples of the cyber crime. But what ignites this feeling of committing cyber crime? What are the causes and problems associated with it? What are the unseen and unheard psychological feelings behind it? What are the measures to be taken for the same? Everything is discussed in this study. There is a glimpse of some nuances of the cyber crime and the psychological factor behind it. An overview of the theories, studies, examples, researches, criminal behavior concerning cyber crime is presented in this study.
