Critical Evaluation Of The Position Of Women Directors Under The Company Law

ABSTRACT

This paper focuses on the provision “149(1) of the Companies Act, 2013” which mandates specific classes of companies to appoint a Woman-Director on their “Board of Directors”. The paper analyses the provision in detail while highlighting the impact that it has in promoting gender diversity on the Board. The paper also highlights the loopholes of the provision and how it has been abused. In light of the analysis, the researcher has also made certain suggestions which can be brought in the provision in order to achieve its true purpose.
