ABSTRACT
Humans have learned significant amount of knowledge through mimicking from other humans or species. The Wright Brothers who first flew were inspired to create their invention from a pigeon in flight. The head of a Sovereign State is also known to mimic the punishments employed in other states. Good many number of people learn about how crimes are committed through word of mouth, fictional stories, movies, mass media, etc. Among these are certain crimes which causes public fear, panic and thus extensive media coverage leads to sensationalism. Over time some person when he decides to commit a crime, he does so in a manner which is already known to him and in the process anticipates the publicity he would receive due to the mode of committing the crime. The rise in print media led to information of such crimes known to the wider public. This led to the increase in people imitating the mode of crime which is discussed briefly in this paper.
