Riya Annabela Benny, St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bangalore

ABSTRACT

From time immemorial, man has had to remain vigilant not just against his human adversaries but pestilent diseases as well. With the current pandemic wreaking havoc on all nations, no territory has remained unaffected. COVID-19 has posed a threat to both global health and economy and regardless of which nation has it worse, epidemics such as these have a way of circling back. An individual country’s efforts won’t suffice to put an end to this pandemic. Strengthening multilateral cooperative ties is of utmost importance to triumph over this contagion and this can be achieved through international law. This paper seeks to enlighten the reader about various provisions in international law pertaining to healthcare, humanitarian relief in epidemics and their efficacy in curbing the spread of disease.
