INTRODUCTION:
The problem of refugees existed prior to the second world war and agreements were made with regard to Russian and Armenian refugees and on the legal status of these refugees on 12th of may 1962 and 30th June 1928 respectively. In 1933 a convention was adopted relating to the international status of refugees. Under this convention refugees were given certain concessions and privileges.
In simple words we can say refugees are referred to those persons who leave their states in which they have permanent residents to escape persecution or military action.
HIGHLIGHTS ABOUT REFUGEES:
Convention on the status of refugees, 1951 - During second world war this problem aggravated more and due to which the convention on the status of refugees in 1951 came into life. The said convention was adopted by the UN Conference of the Plenipotentiaries on 28th July 1951 and it entered into force on 22nd April 1954.
