ABSTRACT
Hate speech has been a forerunner in advancing the crimes against humanity. Subsequently the world has witnessed some of the most horrifying events where human rights were blatantly violated. Such as the holocaust during World War II, Rwandan Massacre, Rohingya crises, Israel-Palestine conflict and many more. Despite such unfortunate events, humanity fails to learn from the past and history repeats itself. In the guise of freedom of speech, individuals exploit their rights and make use of legislative loopholes to propagate hatred and ill-feeling amongst the masses. Although people across the world have different ethnicity, race, culture, religion and traditions, the humanity at large are fighting similar evils, hate speech being one amongst many. In this paper I have done a comparative analysis on the impact of hate speech in India and China and what legal provisions they possess to curb this ever-rising menace. Through such a comparison I aim to show that although they have such different socio-political structure and varying cultures, both of them are on the same footing in their fight to combat Hate speech.
