ABSTRACT
Corporate Social Responsibility (hereafter referred to as CSR) has emerged as a pivotal concept in contemporary business discourse, signifying a fundamental shift in the way organizations perceive and address their responsibilities beyond profit generation. It signifies a company’s commitment to ethical, social, and environmental concerns alongside its economic objectives. This paper studies and interprets the provision under Companies Act, 2013, that deals with CSR. A part of this paper explores the impact of CSR on business performance, encompassing financial outcomes, reputation management, and stakeholder relations. This paper not only deals with the impact of CSR on business operations, but also, regarding the challenges and loopholes in implementing CSR including greenwashing, tokenism by analysing different real-world practices of CSR that have failed. In conclusion, this paper underscores the perspective of a company in implementing CSR in its operations. This paper presents as to how implementing CSR policies will improve business performance as well as value generation.
