ABSTRACT
While the first space race was between two superpowers, namely the United States of America and the Soviet Union, with the sole goal of one-upping the other and establishing global supremacy, the modern version has more nuanced and niche goals, and, more importantly, more players in the fray. Countries such as China, with its purposeful and methodical approach to space exploration, cementing their prowess as a modern-day superpower; India, with its frugal and economical approach while still achieving astounding results; the traditional powerhouses, as well as at least a dozen other nations, all want to be the next conquistadors. While the outcome of the cold war and its subsidiary, the first space race, established capitalism as the preferred policy of most countries around the world, this one can be referred to as capitalism's Prodigal Son- 'The Capitalistic Space Race’.
