ABSTRACT

The rise of hate speech and online harassment in the digital age has prompted the development of a legal framework to address these issues. This article provides an overview of the legal landscape surrounding hate speech and online harassment, highlighting key laws and their enforcement mechanisms. It explores the criminalization of hate speech, the introduction of laws targeting cyberbullying and harassment, and the concept of internet intermediary liability. The article also discusses the challenges and limitations faced in addressing these issues, such as jurisdictional complexities and the need to balance freedom of expression. By understanding the legal framework and its shortcomings, stakeholders can work towards more effective solutions to combat hate speech and online harassment, fostering a safer and inclusive digital environment.
