ABSTRACT
This research paper examines the legal framework in India regarding children's right to a healthy food environment and examines the obstacles that stand in the way of realising this fundamental right, even in the face of existing laws. It evaluates the effectiveness of Indian laws, legislation, and court rulings aimed at guaranteeing children's access to wholesome meals. The study explores significant case law that has shaped how food rights are interpreted and implemented, highlighting the judiciary's function in bridging the gap between legislative intent and actual implementation. By examining the interactions of several legislative instruments and their actual application, the article identifies systemic obstacles impeding the full realisation of children's food rights. The research paper finishes with policy proposals and legislative reforms to reinforce the existing framework, emphasising the importance of a rights-based approach to child nutrition in India.
