ABSTRACT

One of the most essential social institutions is marriage where rituals and symbols are used to express this social process. We all know that child marriage is still a major issue. This article seeks to examine the status, the repercussions, various programs, and recommendations on the decrease of child marriage through a basic understanding. The repercussions of child marriage are highlighted in this piece, with the girls at danger of early pregnancies, social isolation, disrupting her education, restricting her career and occupational progression chances, and putting her at danger of domestic abuse. Marriage may similarly place boys in an adult role for which they are unprepared, create economic constraints on them, and limit their possibilities for further education or job progress. School-based awareness and education can be successful in modifying knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that contribute to risky sexual activity in marriage, as well as delaying marriage, pregnancy, and motherhood. According to this article, the government should plan mid- and long-term targets in order to reduce child marriages significantly.
