FACTS OF THE CASE
Miss Lilli one of the victims of that deadly incident has described it.
So, six women named 1. Usha Minz, 2. Shanti, 3. Josphine Kerketta, 4. Rosy Kerketta, 5. Nilli and 6. Lilli (was sleeping in SHI coach Berth No. 50) on 10th February, 1993 are domestic working women they were travelling from their hometown Ranchi to Delhi by Muri Express.
At about 11.00 PM, the Muri Express was at the Khurja Railway Station. It was then Shanti woke up Lilli that some people were teasing her. After that all the six women got up and sat in their respective and saw 7 to 8 army men near them.
All those army men started molesting the women.
Two Sikhs and six clean shaved men made the six women sit on the lower seats, kissed them hugged them and lured their body and breasts.
The women objected to what the army men were doing then the men caught the women by their hair and beat them and when the women tried crying out the men shut their mouth and threatened the women to throw out of the running train if they shout and make noise. So the women in fear sat silently.
One Sardar and one clean shaved man forcefully made Lilli to lie down on the lower berth and on the other adjacent lower berth another Sardar took another girl and one clean shaved Fauji took Rosy to the bathroom. Two other army men made Shanti to lie down on the nearby seat. Another two men tried to take Usha and Nili but both sat under the seat to hide themselves.
Thereafter, first Sardar Fauji (whose name has been disclosed in the court as Dhir Singh, forcefully removed Lilly’s clothes and raped her. After him, another clean shaved Fauji, whose face is round and height is about 5'8" raped her.
Shanti and Rosy were also raped by remaining army men.
Thereafter, all women tried to lodge a report with the police on the way, but no one heard them. When the train stopped at New Delhi Railway Station, then the women attempted to catch those persons. They all got down and ran here and there. However, the women were able catch hold of aforesaid Sardar Dhir Singh, who had raped Lilly.
In the meanwhile, some persons gathered there. Some Army Officers and Policemen overpowered him and took him to MCO office. Then after a while they came in Station and handed over Shri Dhir Singh, Sardar Dhir Singh has raped Lilly and his colleagues have raped her friends.1
