ABSTRACT
An international legal framework aimed at preventing, suppressing, and punishing trafficking in persons, especially in women and children, is the 2000 Protocol. This study examines the history, composition, and main clauses of the Protocol, an important step in the global struggle against human trafficking. The Protocol's emphasis on prevention, protection, and prosecution as well as its acknowledgment of the special vulnerability of women and children to trafficking are also examined in this study. The Protocol's influence on the global legal system and its ongoing implementation difficulties are also evaluated in this study. This research paper offers a critical viewpoint on the international efforts to prevent human trafficking through a thorough examination of the Protocol and emphasises the necessity for ongoing action to safeguard the most vulnerable members of society. Although there are many obstacles in the way of fully implementing the protocol, including the need for more funding and political will, the paper makes the case that it is still an essential weapon for defending the rights and dignity of society's most helpless citizens.
