INTRODUCTION

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus has sent shock waves across the world causing suffering and deaths, which has been declared a public emergency by the World Health Organization on 30th Jan3 2020 bringing along with an immense number of consequences and one among them was the complete nationwide lockdown, as a result, the social distancing which has been the mainstay for protection from spreading of COVID-19 virus, can be preserved. The effect of this nationwide lockdown was all over the world and so on one of the important organs of the government of the countries i.e., the Judicial System, which also took the same steps in order to curb the rampant.

However, in such an unimaginable situation the Indian Supreme Court paved a way for providing continuous justice to their countrymen with an active step taken by it i.e., the Supreme Court laid down guidelines for the court functioning through video conferencing4 so that two things can go hand in hand, social distancing can be ensured and justice can also be imparted. The Supreme Court issued that guideline so that all the cases related to under-trials can be dealt with.
