An Overview Of The Data Protection And Privacy Regime

ABSTRACT


With internet being an integral part of our lives, the personal data/information transactions have increased massively. The vulnerability of personal data has highlighted the need for personal data protection regulations for the privacy and safety of the people involved in data transactions. This article focuses on the basics of personal data protection and privacy regime and the legislations across the world. The article first describes what is personal data and the need to protect personal data, followed by brief information about the FacebookCambridge Analytica data breach scandal. The article concludes with the privacy protection tips/guidelines provided by the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
