ABSTRACT
Inequality is a major problem for India, all the provisions and laws implemented for reducing inequalities are failing drastically the top 10 percent of the population in India holds 80 percent of the country’s wealth as per recent studies conducted by Oxfam, in the world inequality index India ranked at bottom 15 which tells us that rich is getting richer faster and poor people are getting poorer, the wealth of rich people are getting higher every year even after introductions of heavy tax laws and income brackets. Due to this, the people such as the poor, women, children, people from the lower caste, indigenous tribes, and other marginalized sections of the society are facing a huge problem as we have seen in the news of migrating workers from metro cities walking to their villages, hungry carrying kids on their back without food and water just walking like 300-500 kilometers because they did not have enough savings to afford food and rent without work .all these conditions shows that inequality in India is getting out of hand and if it’s not controlled in few years it may be impossible to control in future. The United Nations describes inequality as “The state of not being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities”. So where is the problem? Will we ever be able to achieve total equality?
