An Analytical Study On The Role Of Panchayat Raj In Rural Development

ABSTRACT


The research paper aims at studying the role of Panchayat Raj in rural development. Panchayati raj system is a local self-government followed in India. It is meant to ensure that local administrative affairs, particularly in rural areas, should be resolved by local government units constituted with elected members. The modern Panchayati Raj in India consists of three levels, village level Panchayats, block level Panchayats and district level Panchayats. Highest level of Panchayats in the hierarchy of rural self government. The research has followed empirical research with the convenience sampling method. The sample size covered by the researcher is 201. The independent variables are name, age, gender, education qualification and occupation. The dependent variables are that the panchayat raj system plays an effective role in rural development, causes for non-proper reservation Panchayati Raj election, Panchayat raj is necessary and government provided funds for development Panchayat Raj. The Panchayat raj should follow the guidelines of the government and implement the scheme which helps in the development of rural people.
