ABSTRACT

The modern concept of globalization began with the dawn of the 20th century with the rapid growth and development in the field of science and technology. In the present scenario, the influence of globalization can be felt in every aspect of our day-to-day life as we have grown accustomed to it. The trade liberalization and privatization have enabled the advancement of globalization and its proliferation in almost every sphere of our daily life. Due to this, there has been an increase in the transportation and exchange of goods and services, including food products, from one place to another.

The impact of globalization has affected the dietary habits of people around the world as there has been an increased awareness in respect of the quality, standard, and overall availability of food products. Due to globalization, while global access to food products has increased, the overall quality of the food products and nutrition content has gone downhill because of added preservatives and other chemicals. The advent of globalization has also affected the local food producers as the global brands, and food chains have captured the market with their aggressive strategies and advertisement campaigns. Even in India, there has been an evident shift in dietary habits, which has adversely affected the rural as well as the urban population. This research paper examines the manner in which globalization has had an impact on the right to adequate food and nutrition in India, either directly or indirectly.
