Introduction:
Intellectual property law is fundamentally characterized by the protection of creators' rights and the guarantee of fair use of original works through the use of copyright. Nevertheless, in the digital era, corporate copyright infringement has become a burgeoning issue, as companies frequently engage in the unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of copyrighted materials. Corporate liability for copyright infringement occurs when a business, whether intentionally or unintentionally, violates copyright laws. Depending on the company's involvement in the infringement, this liability may be direct, vicarious, or contributory. The frequency and complexity of copyright disputes involving corporations have increased as a result of the proliferation of digital content, online platforms, and AI-generated works. Corporate liability is addressed through legal frameworks such as the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976, India's Copyright Act of 1957, and the EU Copyright Directive. Nevertheless, obstacles persist in the areas of defining corporate responsibility, enforcing penalties, and reconciling copyright protection with technological innovation.
The legal frameworks, case studies, and challenges associated with corporate liability for copyright infringement are the focus of this research. This study endeavors to offer corporations valuable insights into the ways in which they can ensure compliance with copyright laws and mitigate legal risks by comparing various jurisdictions and analyzing emerging trends.
