ABSTRACT
In an era where the crime rate is high and the conviction of criminals is lower, in the times of science and technology criminals have advanced their way of covering up their crimes and it is now difficult to prove their crimes. In consideration of such situations, lie detectors are useful. Lie detection is a cognitive process that evaluates a message as well as nonverbal indicators to detect fraud. It might also refer to questioning strategies combined with technology that monitors physiological activities to determine if an answer is true or untrue. Lie detectors are offered in a wide range of technologies. The polygraph is the most widespread and long-used technique.
This article aims to discuss lie detection tests in India and the objective is to identify and understand the strengths and weaknesses of lie detection tests. This paper also discusses the legality of such tests in India.
